Being on Facebook can pretty much burn and
dissolve away precious time that could have been otherwise spent on other
productive pursuits like taking your dog for a quick walk just so you could
boost its cardiovascular health or perhaps mow your lawn and any other activity
that will help you break some sweat. I
found the ubiquitous social networking website useful though when I found the PRO-FRIENDS Facebook page giving me a glimpse of the other things that
the Property Company of Friends, Inc. are involved in. On top of the great things that the company
has been doing in the real estate development industry, I also found out that
the company also likes to get involved in community development activities and
has participated in hosts of events in which the aim is to continue driving the
vision-mission of building communities and transforming lives. The following
are just a few of the activities that the company got involved in for the past
three months. We’ll start off from the oldest down to the most recent one:
Profriends project Santa during Christmas
2012 – the company is very much aware that Christmas is traditionally a very
important holiday for the Filipino family. Profriends is committed to bringing
the spirit of Christmas and share the spirit of this highly anticipated season
to every family in the community. The company carried this out by serving as a
medium to communicate the presence of the holiday through the initiation of
different activities in the different developments. Profriends ushered in the
holidays by decorating the facades of all 11 developments in the Cavite area. The
company picked Santa’s image to serve as a representation of this Christmas
project. To be consistent with the Santa theme, Profriends put up exhibits on
the main gates of each property development project. They erected life-sized
images of the old jolly gift giver surrounded with lights and gifts.
House building project in April 2013 – to
demonstrate that the company embodies the vision of creating communities and
transforming lives outside of the normal work premises, Profriends sent out
volunteers to the Habitat for Humanity house building project. The Profriends
volunteers were sent out to help other volunteers build houses for communities
left homeless by devastating natural calamities. It was a very appropriate humanitarian
activity for the company since they are involved mainly in the business of developing
communities and building affordable houses for consumers.
Community livelihood project – the first
ever Profriends livelihood project was held during the start of the second
quarter in 2013 to help the residents of Montefaro Village, a Profriends
community development project in Imus Cavite. The foremost aim of the livelihood
project is to provide the residents with the required know-how in food
processing so they can turn it into a source of extra income. The project has
garnered a positive reception from the residents. The participants demonstrated
their enthusiasm by actively immersing themselves in the activities that was
prepared by the facilitators and trainers coming from a vocational institution
in Imus.
