Lazada Philippines: Changing the culture of local Ecommerce

We have always been fond of doing things easier and faster. I think the modernization of Internet usage helped defined how to make things easier. From gathering information to communicating in real time, Internet played a big role in reach that feat. It didn’t stop there; Internet went from being an option to use to a necessity in our daily ventures. It translated a lot of the usual offline activities we do to online as well. One sample is the option shop online. This allows anyone to shop while they are right on their living rooms or even their own bedroom. Online shopping started to rise ever since Lazada Philippines was launched in the country and other online stores showed up from everywhere. Prior to their arrival, the industry in Ecommerce was almost flat in growth. To most online users, shopping online was never choice or option to them back then.

Majority of the local online users visit local online classified websites when they are looking for second hand items. For customers who want to buy brand new items, they usually go to traditional malls to buy it. Actually, it is expected from us since we grew up shopping on traditional offline malls by our parents. In online shopping, we fail to realize that we can actually save our time and money. How does online shopping benefit us? With online shopping, local online customers can shop wherever they may be. Money spends on usual travel expense going to the location of traditional malls can now be saved by customers. This was the greatest challenge of the Philippines’ Online Shopping Mall when they launched here in the Philippines.

One of the challenges that they were facing is how they can tap the untapped online community in the country. Non-credit cardholders that are why only few can pay online populate the population of the country. There are still some questions on the reliability of online transactions. We are actually aware of the possibility of having online scams and frauds in online shopping. The local Ecommerce industry in the country is now expanding. To see the progress of Lazada online mall making an impact on the local Ecommerce is quite amazing. Customers can even check their TVC on top local channels that was aired during primetime to prove how legitimate they are.

What solution did they come up with in the usual Ecommerce woes in the country? They called Cash on Delivery or C.O.D offered an alternative payment method. This is a payment method that is actually rare to see available in any online business. A lot of risk lies when an online business offers that kind of payment method online. It is payment method that allows online users to pay only after they receive their orders. They will only need to pay cash once they received their orders in real time. Customers can keep the payment up until they have received their orders in real time. The intention is to make sure that their customers will be at ease with their online shopping with them.
