Internet is the
most consistent commodity in our lifestyle since the early 2000. It has
dramatically changed how we see things. We can now even easily get information
at the speed of light unlike before were you need to open encyclopedia always
have the latest to be updated in information. It started out as an Information
medium to a more complex online activity such as online shopping. Most of us
have probably noticed that shopping online is exponentially becoming popular in
the Philippines. Believe it or not, this wasn't the case a few years ago;
people were hesitant in online shopping. One factor is that both online and
offline scams have a high rate here in the country. In the end, this made
online transaction the least option to many local online users. What was
closest considered in Ecommerce was local online classified websites.
Ridiculous as it may be, but this help prepared the rise of the Ecommerce
industry. They eventually created a marketplace community in the local online
scene.
Buy and sell was
harder online classified wasn't available yet and relied only thru offline.
Mainly it was used for price comparison for items they are planning to buy these
allowed online users to stay longer have other purpose in Internet usage. This
online ad websites became a platform for people who want to buy and sell. The
local traffic is actually dealing with third party resellers and the website
itself. Customers do Offline transactions most of the time. Group buying
websites also influenced the local online users. Customers were prepared for
online payment by these websites for the coming of Ecommerce websites in the
Philippines. By the time Ecommerce arrived in the country, local online users
are somewhat familiar in doing transactions online.
The fact that
local online users have more to gain in online shopping pushed them in trying
online shopping. The amazing deals offered to customers from group buy websites
were very rare. Their offered deal was at rock bottom price that it made local
online users not to miss out on their deals. A year ago, Lazada Philippines
arrived in the country. It is only one of the online store ventures that are
available across South East Asia. It is venture under the Rocket Internet
umbrella that is owned by the famous Samwer brothers. By offering various
payment methods, the Philippines’ Online Shopping Mall helped the Ecommerce
grow in the country. Their payment methods featured different payments that
allow online customers, which suit them, best.
Traditionally,
credit card payments and PayPal payment are the most common payment method
allowed by conventional online stores. These conventional online payments are
usually the reason customers don't push through with their orders since they
don't any of it. They first introduced Cash on Delivery or C.O.D. to the local
online users. The untapped market in the past can now be tapped with their
offering of this payment method. This is actually the majority market in the
Philippines. Moreover, by tapping on this market, the Ecommerce have grown
exponentially.
