Lazada Philippines: A company with a great vision


There are a lot of things that could make for a great company. Today we are going to dig deeper into the things that makes our number one online shopping company great. In focus right now is the top online shopping company in the country Lazada Philippines as well as its creator, the number one online venture builder in the world, Rocket-Internet. There are three things that we would want to look into about the company, the company vision-mission, the way of thinking and economic impact.

 Vision-Mission – All companies work around a certain vision-mission and core values. Having a vision mission is integral for success because it gives the company a goal to look forward to and a target to hit. Every company does have some sort of a vision-mission even the small ones. Rocket-Internet, Lazada's business incubator is a very successful company with a very simple vision-mission. I can’t quote exactly what the vision-mission is verbatim but I am just going to lay down the gist of what I have understood from my readings of the company profile. The core of the company’s vision is very practical and straightforward and that is performance. The company is passionate about performance and accomplishing things. Their main thing is accomplishing and putting plans into action at a very rapid pace. On the side, they also believe in hard work, humility and dedication. They put a premium on sharing of information, knowledge and solving problems in a very independent manner. The company founders put more emphasis on intelligence more than experience and that carries into the company’s hiring practices. That is why having a lot of years and experience at work is not a guarantee that can easily get a position. A prospective applicant who wants to get a top position in the company should be able to demonstrate creativity, ability to think outside of the box and of course overall intelligence. As mentioned earlier, the company is fond of working fast and finishing quick along with taking risks. They believe only in possibilities and nothing else.

Out of the box way of thinking – out of the box thinking is one of the thinking skills that is valued greatly by the founders and leaders of the company.  The main goal is to keep the flow of original ideas running or the so called creative juice. Thinking out of the box enables a company to always come up with something new, something fresh that they could introduce to the market. Without that way of thinking, a company will always end up serving the same stuff and the effect is not that favorable especially for a company that thrives in unique ways of doing things. 

Economic and employment impact – A company’s profitability and progress depends a lot on the quality of people working behind it. I mentioned earlier that the founders believe in intelligence more than experience and that kind of employment philosophy allows the company to select the right talent. The company also believes in providing people with equal employment opportunities regardless of what background the person may have.
