Improving Educational Standards

Reading through an article about PRO-FRIENDS on the internet in http://business.inquirer.net/113263/a-worthy-story-for-a-brand-new-home-with-pro-friends-ka-rin-ba-campaign  I came to realize that this company is more than just making profits and business. It is a company that looks after the development of the people inside the developments it created. Further research about the company brought me to different articles documenting the various activities that they are involved in to push the welfare of the communities that they are helping. It opened me up to Profriends pursuits on furthering the education of the children within the confines of the communities it developed. There is a whole list of things that they have done to contribute to the education of students in the developments. The first on the list was the opening of St.Edward Integrated School in Lancaster Estates. This is a school under the consultancy arrangement of Lassallian Schools Supervision Office (LASSO) the implementing body of the Lassalian Schools Supervision Services Association. De La Salle University Manila. The school was opened and inaugurated in April 2012 and graced by the presence of representatives coming from the Department of Education, Lassalian Schools Supervision Office, Profriends management and executives and St. Edward Integrated School board of trustees, staff and officers. This initiative of establishing a school inside the development is just one aspect of the plan of building a complete community.

Another advocacy that the company got involved in lately was the Department of Education’s “adopt a school program” also prevalently known as “Brigada Eskwela”. The school that they helped out was the Flaviana F. Arayata Memorial Elementary School in Tanza Cavite. Volunteers coming from the Property Company of  Friends, Inc. worked hand in hand with the students, teachers, parents and school personnel in giving the school facilities such as desks, chairs, teacher’s tables and book shelves a paint once over.
The books were also wrapped in transparent plastic cover to enhance protection and increase its useful life. A general clean-up was also done around the school campus in preparation for the school opening. On top of the help provided by the Profriends volunteers, the company also made a donation to the school. They gave the school a computer set with printer, a sewing machine and new books. Another similar activity that Profriends got engaged in a year prior to this was the program done in Iloilo at the Pal-Agon elementary school in Pavia Iloilo. The volunteers facilitated the repair of the school stage, engaged the children in a book reading session by reading story books and even instilled in the students the importance of eating a healthy and balanced diet by sowing vegetables seeds into the school’s garden. The Brigada Eskwela project is an annual activity led by the Department of Education with the main goal of getting the school ready in the upcoming school year. The company is pursuing continuous participation in these types of activities in accordance to their mission-vision of “creating communities and transforming lives” which can only be realized into fruition by the advancement of education in the country.
