Do you still
bother adjusting your schedule just to go out and shop on traditional
malls? Or are you one of those people
who just can’t accept change on how you do your shopping? Sometimes, it is just
hard for us to change something that we have fond of. Especially, if this is
something that was instilled when you were growing up. It’s true that shopping
on traditional malls have been part of our culture. But there's no doubting
that online shopping is a rising industry in the Philippines. A lot of us never
envision online shopping as an accepted option dating a couple of years back.
It's actually expected since the rate of fraud in the country is high both in
online and offline. This made online transaction look very bad to most of the
people online. It was usually local classified ads that were close to an online
store, which is actually a buy and sell industry. It helped the arrival of
online malls in the country.
They started the
marketplace community in the country. It was difficult for online users to buy
online when local online classified websites didn't exist yet. It was just used
mainly for pricing comparison of items consumers want to buy. It changed how
online users perceive Internet connection on a more diverse aspect. Various
visitors on these kinds of websites go there to buy and sell. It's very
different from Ecommerce since local online users deal with third party
resellers. Transactions are usually done offline.
Group buying
type of websites also influenced local online users. This boosted the
preparation of the Ecommerce industry's arrival in the country. By the time
they arrived in the country, local online users were sort of familiar on how to
deal online with Ecommerce websites. People consider online shopping since the
risk is way lower than the reward. Great deals were mostly found on group by
websites by local online users. Prices offered by them were at rock bottom that
it is too hard to pass on. Last year, Lazada Philippines
arrived in the country.
It is actually
an online mall venture launched across South East Asia. It is backed by the
Samwer brothers and is under the Rocket Internet umbrella. The Philippines’
Online Shopping Mall made an impact in Ecommerce through their various payment
methods. With so many payment methods, each of their customers will find
something that they will them best. Unlike conventionally, online stores
require only credit card payments online or thru PayPal. Both credit card and
PayPal payments are usually a problem for local online customers since they
don't possess any of the two. They first introduced Cash on Delivery or C.O.D.
to their customers. It allowed them to
tap the untapped market online in the Philippines. As a matter of fact, it is
the majority of the local market in the Philippines. E-commerce is now rising
with this recently tapped market included in the customer mix and is bound to
progress further and further as more and more people are getting aware of its
apparent benefits.
