Lazada Philippines: Overtime increase in Ecommerce demand

Online shopping has slowly been rising in Asia as of late. More people are now capable of doing online shopping unlike before. It is actually great to see that almost everyone is now catching up in online. Online shopping has been already around for some time, as early as the early 2000. Mostly, it was first and second world countries that have maximized this option then.  For Philippines, it only started last year when the Lazada Venture was launched in the country. It is powered by Rocket Internet, one of the Ecommerce giants globally and is owned by the Samwer brothers.

On top of Philippines, they are also available in other South East Asia countries. Since the economy is booming in most countries of South East Asia, they wanted to explore it in Ecommerce. They are actually successful in other countries and wanted to replicate it in South East Asia.  Other countries already find these a common option for them since they were used to it since during the early years. Prior to their arrival, Ecommerce was slowly growing in the Philippines for the past couple of years.

Not having enough online audience and accompanied by low number of credit card owner made Ecommerce suffer. Not everyone possesses decent Internet connection. The ratio of credit card owners in the country is way low. It is usually via credit card that online stores accept online payment. Cash on Delivery or C.O.D. is a payment method that was first introduced by Lazada that eventually allowed anyone to pay in cash instead. This Cash on Delivery alternative payment method changed how the Ecommerce landscape works in the Philippines As of now, offline businesses are now transitioning to online as well.

Now that online business has relevance thanks to the Philippines’ Online Shopping Mall leading the way, local businessmen are not jumping on the online business bandwagon. If we go a few years back, Ecommerce was almost stagnant due to a lot local issues. Even if we still had decent numbers of capable online shoppers, it still won't matter since they are not willing to.

Some of the online shoppers who can use their credit card for online payment are not willing to surrender their credit card details online. These issues made the growth of Ecommerce slow. Classifieds online website was one of the first websites in the country. It was online malls that faced more challenges in the local online industry. It made sense since online shopping wasn't locally available then.

What they did to overcome that was to allow full-blown online market campaigns. You can pretty much see them everywhere online. This helped their brand to be recognized quickly than other usual brands that get to that point only after 3-5 years. They became one of the key players in their industry because of their all around shopping service. Their alternative payment method Cash on Delivery or C.O.D. comes with Free Delivery availability as well. It also comes with manufacturer's warranty that traditional malls offer as well.
