Difference from then and now in online

It’s inevitable that Ecommerce were not so much of a success in the Philippines as compared to other countries. South East Asia in general, was not just prepared for it. The technological demands are still insufficient compared to our current resources then. It can’t be helped since we were the late adaptors of technology. We only started to catch up in the mid-2000. But from the late 90’s to the early 2000s we were behind by other first and second world countries.

For some, it was always a challenge for them to make online payment. Information such as credit card details and personal information might be compromised. Other countries find it very challenging in dealing with online payments. Doing online payment should be done accordingly and users new to online payment may struggle. You may be overbilled on your transaction if you make a mistake. It's a pain if you get billed incorrectly online and usually takes more days for processing. It's not that hard. You only get what you paid for in real time. But now that we are leaving in a digital era, we now have other options.  This makes our lives much easier and faster.

Energy and time can now be saved by not walking around the building just to shop. It is only Internet access and an Internet capable device when you want to shop online. You just need to access the website's mall online to see what they have to offer. The online industry here in the Philippines is very different. Online shopping wasn't common a few years back. Since most of us are not credit card owners, it was hard to pay online the conventional way.

It was slow for Ecommerce to grow. The low market was really hard to penetrate by Ecommerce. It's actually great that that arrival of LazadaPH made the penetration of Ecommerce much easier. Their arrival made online shopping as a potential option.

Since they offer Cash on Delivery or C.O.D., customers who don't have credit cards can still shop online. Customers will only need to leave their shipment address and name of the order recipient. Online customers will only be required to pay once they deliver their orders at their doorsteps.

It marked the first time Cash on Delivery was offered as an alternative online payment method in the country. Even though Cash on Delivery is already offered before on fast food delivery, it helped Ecommerce grow significantly ever since it was offered online. It made us understand how it can be easier for us in online shopping. Competitors started to show up ever since they arrived in the country. Either online or offline shopping, we can enjoy more options nowadays.

Online shopping to me is just the beginning on how online will change how we live in the near future. It’s potential and promise is still high at this point. We just have to wait for it to happen. While we are waiting for the innovations to come, we’ll just have to maximize the benefits we get from online, which is already enough at this point.
