Lazada continue to surprise us

A lot of people are now getting used to online shopping nowadays in the country. So far it’s really looking good in the Ecommerce industry. It was only last year when the Philippines' Online Shopping Mall was launched in the country. The famous Samwer brothers under their company Rocket Internet own it. On top of Philippines, they are also available in other South East Asia countries. South East Asia was on the rise and they wanted to be ahead in Ecommerce. They have already built a reputation as a huge website incubators in the world. Online shopping is actually old for other countries to the point that it is part of their lifestyle. The growth of Ecommerce in the country was pretty slow before their arrival. One of the main reasons Ecommerce was struggling is due to the fact that only a few online users can pay online. Most of us only have below average Internet connection. There are just a few of online population that have their own credit cards. Conventionally, online payments via credit cards are the most acceptable payment method. Cash on Delivery or C.O.D. is a payment method that was first introduced by them that eventually allowed anyone to pay in cash instead.

To me, this has given Ecommerce a new life by allowing non-traditional customers who can't pay via credit card to still become customers. We are now currently seeing a lot of successful offline business being present in online. After local businessmen felt Lazada’s presence, they now appreciate online presence a little bit more. A lot of challenges were lingering in Ecommerce just a few years back. There are few a few who still can pay online but chose not to deal with online. For some of them who can pay online the conventional way, they were afraid of exposing the personal details online. These online shopping woes made Ecommerce rise quite hard. In the country, classifieds online were one of the first to reach success online.  It was online malls that faced more challenges in the local online industry. The online shopping industry wasn't really highly regarded in the first place.

Since this was the situation when they arrived, they countered it with full blown online marketing. Their online presence was everywhere. It definitely helped their brand to get established quicker than the usual to the local online users. One reason why customers like them is that they offer a full package experience in online shopping. Besides their Cash on Delivery or C.O.D. alternative payment method, they offer free delivery as well. It also has manufacturer's warranty that we also get from traditional malls. Traditional malls usually this kind of setup to customers.

Just recently, they just offered the option to pay in installment basis care of BDO. As of now, they are just currently offered exclusively to BDO credit card holders. Hopefully, it will be opened to other credit cards. They just continue to surprise us.
