Entering the dawn of Ecommerce in the Philippines

Ecommerce have started to rise in the country. As a matter of fact it started early last year. Prior to that, Ecommerce was actually a struggling industry in the country. It’s actually surprising to see it soar now. Coincidentally, last year was when Lazada Online Stores was launched in the Philippines. It is under Rocket Internet, which is owned by the Samwer brothers in Germany.

Besides Philippines, it also exists in other South East Asia countries near the country. Their goal was to penetrate South East Asia with its high potential in Ecommerce. Prior to their arrival, Rocket Internet is already well known in the online business. Online shopping is actually old for other countries to the point that it is part of their lifestyle. Before they started to launch in the country, Ecommerce wasn't highly regarded yet. Not having enough population who can purchase online definitely affects Ecommerce. Only a few of us possess decent Internet connectivity.

Not everyone in the country have his or her own credit card. Customers who pay thru credit cards are the most acceptable among the other online payments. Luckily Lazada PH Online Mall introduced Cash on Delivery or C.O.D. that allows anyone to become customers Personally, I feel like this payment method revolutionized how online shopping works in general. As of today, more offline businesses are slowly moving to online venue as well. After local businessmen felt Lazada’s presence, they now appreciate online presence a little bit more.

Not long ago when Ecommerce was an almost dead industry while other countries were thriving with it. A lot of people who can pay the conventional way still went away from online shopping. Online shoppers who can pay via credit card just chose not to push through with it. Ecommerce really had a hard time to grow dues to these online woes. Local online classified ads were the ones who took over the local online scene. Initially, online shopping malls struggled to make an impact in the local online community.

No one was willing to invest in Ecommerce at that time since it wasn't regarded at all during that time. In order for the Philippines’ Online Shopping Mall to overcome this drought they invested on full-blown online marketing efforts. Their online presence where found everywhere. This paved way for them to get known immediately as a brand to the local online users. They managed to stand out when they offer the full service in online shopping. Customers can enjoy Cash on Delivery or C.O.D. payment method with Free Delivery Availability.

They also give manufacturer's warranty that offline malls usually give to their customers. Beside these efforts, they continue to improve on giving Filipinos more payment options that is beyond the conventional online payment. They are the first online malls to actually offer credit card instalment, which is powered by their partner BDO. This is revolutionary move in online shopping that makes it competitive even further to traditional shopping. I’m actually excited to see what they can offer more in the near future.
