Online
shopping is now a common thing in the Philippines. People are now very
enthusiastic to try shopping on local online malls. It gives them more
convenience compared to when they shop on traditional malls. Unconsciously, we
actually spend more when we go to traditional malls. We spend extra money on
travel expense and there’s a high chance that we dine on restaurants, fancy or
fast food. It still costs us compared to when we just eat at home. But since in
traditional malls, shopping automatically requires you to walk around from each
boutique to the other. This actually drains our energy as well. So not only you spend more but also you tire
yourself moving around the mall establishment. As compared to when you do your
shopping online, all you need is an Internet capable device with Internet
connection.
What
I like about online shopping personally is I can do my shopping anytime and
anywhere I want. Plus it’s open 24/7 unlike traditional malls. For a person
like me who works on night shift, conventional mall hours do not favor our
schedule. Ecommerce however was not this way in the past. It’s actually a dead
industry in the Philippines going a couple of years back. What’s funny before
is that local online classified ads are considered the closest to an Ecommerce
website then. But ever since key players like Lazada was
launched in the Philippines last year, the Ecommerce growth shifted dramatically.
What they offered is not the usual offering of a conventional online store.
Sure they offer conventional payment methods like credit cards but what they
offered was beyond the usual. One particular payment method that actually
defined them is their Cash on Delivery or C.O.D. payment method. This allowed
any customers to pay in cold cash. Although transaction is finally ended via
offline, customers can order from their lazada.com.ph website and choose
whatever items they prefer. Lazada then process their orders and have it
delivered on their set shipment address. All they need to do is leave their
shipment address and they are good to go. So for the online shopping woes that
we used to worry about like if we can trust the online stores is now solved with
this online payment method. No need to risk credit card details of getting
exposed to the wrong hands.
Also,
no need to worry if your orders won’t get delivered since if the orders don’t
get delivered. No harm done since you get to keep your money up until you
receive your orders. These were actually the online shopping woes that plagued
the Ecommerce industry in the past. It’s the reason why Ecommerce really had a
hard time in penetrating the local market in the past. It’s actually amazing on
how websites like Lazada changed the Ecommerce game in the country. They even
recently offered installment payments for their customers, which we can only
avail at traditional offline malls. I’m actually more excited what they can
offer in the future. One thing is for sure! Lazada really knows what they are
doing unlike other online stores who failed to rise in the local online market.
