Lazada opened the doors of local e-commerce

The state of Philippine E-commerce these days is definitely at its highest. E-commerce locally is so vibrant and dynamic, with a whole lot of new key game changers out there that are out to make some positive impact to the industry. Among those that bevy of online shopping companies is lazada.com.ph/  an online shopping start-up in the Philippines that has been generating huge, massive waves since it dipped its hand into the local E-Commerce ocean. Lazada has been haled as the Amazon.com counterpart of Southeast Asia.

That comparison is something unavoidable and actually expected, from what I have gathered so far, it is an amazon.com clone created by the largest online venture builder, Berlin, Germany’s Rocket-Internet. Rocket-Internet is an online venture builder and start up incubator. an online start up incubator is a company that clones successful internet websites normally coming websites from the United States as in the case of Rocket-Internet and Launch them in another country with emerging economies. Once the newly cloned website is up and operating smoothly, the next thing that normally happens is that they exit that company and sell them to the company where the original idea came from.  Rocket-Internet follows a stringent and focused Human Resource tactic; they get MBA trained higher executives to hold the positions of founding and managing director of the portfolio website (the cloned website).

A lot of the executives they hire are highly skilled experiences managers from multinational institutions and consultancy firms. The successful equation of bringing together the company’s expertise and management credentials with the incubation of a successful website often brings Rocket-Internet or lands them on the second or third spot on the marketplace rankings. This concept and procedure is proven effective and brilliant as it has brought Rocket-Internet to the top of the internet business echelon and stayed there for such a long time and will probably be there forever.  The company has been practicing it for more than 12 years now and have spawned over 100 market leading companies around the world and provide decent and gainful employment to as many as 15,000 highly skilled workforce. Getting international companies like Rocket-Internet set up shop in the country definitely impacts the local employment statistics positively. Lazada is focused and has its sights on the Philippine market and its diverse range of consumers and thus the manpower that it will require will also come from the local employment pool which obviously helps relieve our local unemployment rates.

The success of the company also affects how entrepreneurs view online shopping and encourages them to set up their own shop leading to more businesses and more employment opportunities for the people. Another positive impact of Lazada is that it encouraged more people to try online shopping out because of its relaxed payment methods and easy ways of shopping which is something positive and also helps the local online shopping and e-commerce community. The conclusion is that Lazada definitely helped push and open the doors of online shopping to the local consumers.
